It’s critical during this time that governments provide strong and clear public health messages that are easy to understand and implement. The message here in Scotland remains consistent and clear as it also does in Wales and Northern Ireland – stay at home to protect the NHS and save lives.
Boris Johnson faced criticism this week for announcing some confusing changes to his guidance in England. However, it’s since been made clear that the differing rules in the devolved nations must be respected and that non-essential travel to Scotland, Wales or Northern is still prohibited.
Polling shows the overwhelming majority of Scots back the Scottish Government’s clear stay at home message. The lockdown restrictions are tough on everyone, but I’d urge my constituents to be patient as we continue to make progress in tackling this deadly virus.
By sticking to the guidance in Scotland we’re all helping ensure this crisis will be over sooner and playing our part in saving lives.
