Martin Docherty-Hughes MP has added his backing to the launch of a campaign to boost the metal recycling rates in West Dunbartonshire.
The ‘Make Your Metals Matter’ campaign aims to encourage local residents to recycle all metal packaging found around their homes, including drinks cans, empty aerosols, food tins, aluminium foil, pet food tins and foil trays.
West Dunbartonshire’s MP Martin Docherty-Hughes has said that households are recycling more than ever and urged local residents to play their part and help the environment.
Every time metal is recycled it saves energy, cuts greenhouse gas emissions and saves on landfill space – helping to make Scotland a cleaner and greener country.
Martin Docherty-Hughes MP said:
“People across Scotland are recycling more than ever before – greatly reducing the amount of household waste being unnecessarily sent to landfill.
“It’s great to see West Dunbartonshire residents are playing their part too – with recycling rates here above the national average and improving every year. However, we can always do more to reduce the environmental impact of household waste.
“I’m delighted to help launch West Dunbartonshire’s ‘Make Your Metal Matter’ campaign and would encourage local residents to do their bit by ensuring all their food tins, drinks cans and metal packaging are recycled.”
