West Dunbartonshire’s MP Martin Docherty-Hughes is getting behind the launch of this year’s Poppy Scotland appeal in support of armed forces veterans and their families.

The annual Scottish Poppy Appeal is taking place in the run up to Remembrance Sunday in November, helping to raise funds in aid of ex-servicemen and women across Scotland.

More than five million poppies and 60,000 collecting tins are being distributed across Scotland by an army of dedicated volunteers in high streets, shops, businesses and schools.

Local SNP MP Martin Docherty-Hughes – who represented West Dunbartonshire at the launch of this year’s Poppy Scotland appeal – is urging local residents across Clydebank, Dumbarton and the Vale to get involved in the fundraiser.

By buying a poppy, or donating to Poppy Scotland, the money raised helps support projects in Scotland giving life-changing assistance to the armed forces community.

Martin Docherty-Hughes MP said:

“It was a privilege to represent West Dunbartonshire at the launch of this year’s Poppy Scotland appeal.

“Like many people across Clydebank, Dumbarton and the Vale I have family and friends who have served in the armed forces.

“Our veterans and their families deserve the best possible care and support, and thanks to the generosity of millions of Scots the Poppy Scotland appeal continues to help do just that.

“Whether you buy a poppy, volunteer your time or donate – every penny raised makes a real difference to the lives of Scotland’s veterans and the families of those who we’ve lost their lives.

“I’m urging my constituents in West Dunbartonshire to visit www.poppyscotland.org.uk to find out how they can support this year’s Scottish Poppy Appeal.”

You can donate £3 by texting POPPY to 70800 to help support the Poppy Scotland Appeal.
