West Dunbartonshire’s MP Martin Docherty-Hughes has blasted Conservative MPs for failing to act to remove Boris Johnson from office, following yet more revelations about illegal lockdown parties at Downing Street,

The SNP MP has said for each day that Boris Johnson remains in power, Tory MPs will continue to lose credibility – following new allegations that the Prime Minister attended another leaving do in the run-up to Christmas 2020. The Daily Mirror has today [Monday] reported that the Prime Minister attended an event for his now former defence advisor in the run up to Christmas 2020 – and even delivered a speech. It comes following a week where the Prime Minister was forced to give a public apology to the Queen after multiple parties took place within No. 10 on the eve of HRH Prince Philip’s funeral.  The SNP has long called on Boris Johnson to resign as Prime Minister, and for an independent, judge-led enquiry to be held to properly investigate the parties that took place within No. 10. Commenting, Martin Docherty-Hughes MP said: “With each passing day, more and more Tory MPs are losing credibility.  “The Prime Minister’s reputation is in tatters, his premiership is an unmitigated disaster, and yet hundreds of Tory MPs refuse to call for his resignation.  “From the outset, the SNP has called for a judge-led inquiry – independent of government – to properly investigate the parties that took place within Downing Street.  “However, Tory MPs have a duty of responsibility to their constituents to remove the man who has lied to them throughout this entire scandal. “Scotland currently finds itself being governed by the most corrupt, inept and dysfunctionalUK government in decades – a government we did not vote for.  “Only with the full powers of independence can Scotland rid itself of this corrupt, sleaze-ridden Westminster system for good.”
