West Dunbartonshire’s MP Martin Docherty-Hughes has confirmed his support for thousands of women across Clydebank, Dumbarton and the Vale fighting for compensation for their state pensions.
Local SNP MP Docherty-Hughes met with West Dunbartonshire’s WASPI (Women Against State Pension Injustice) campaigners to sign a pledge calling on the UK government to deliver fair and fast compensation for 1950s-born women impacted by changes to the state pension age.

West Dunbartonshire’s MP has warned the UK government further action is required to tackle the worsening cost-of-living crisis, as it’s announced that the first of two payments to help qualifying low-income households will hit people’s bank accounts from 14th July.
Local MP Martin Docherty-Hughes welcomed the Chancellor’s confirmation that a payment of £326 would be made to eligible low-income households by the end of July, with a second payment of £324 set to follow in the autumn.

West Dunbartonshire’s MP Martin Docherty-Hughes has welcomed the publication of the first in a series of documents from the Scottish Government, which shows how Scotland in the UK compares to other similar-sized independent European nations on key comparators.
The paper launched by Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon outlines how other comparable nations are wealthier, happier and fairer than Scotland currently is under Westminster control.

The SNP MP for West Dunbartonshire visited Clydebank’s Energy Centre in Queens Quay – which utilises the first large-scale heat pump system of its kind in the UK to generate energy from the River Clyde – to see first-hand the benefits of the district heating system.

West Dunbartonshire’s MP Martin Docherty-Hughes has raised concerns about the impact of soaring gas and electricity bills as figures show households in West Dunbartonshire paying on average £1,555 per year.
According to data from 2021 released by comparethemarket.com, households across Clydebank, Dumbarton and the Vale of Leven were paying 17.9% more than the energy price cap prior to it rising by £693 on 1st April.
