BORIS JOHNSON TOLD TO ‘GO NOW’ OVER DAMNING SUE GRAY REPORT FINDINGS

The SNP has said Boris Johnson’s position is now ‘completely untenable’ and he must resign or be removed from office – as the damning Sue Gray report provides further confirmation the Prime Minister and his Downing Street team broke lockdown rules and misled Parliament. The report includes the damning conclusions “There were failures of leadership and judgment by different parts of No 10 and the Cabinet Office”, “a number of these gatherings should not have been allowed to take place or to develop in the way that they did” and “represent a serious failure to observe not just the high standards expected of those working at the heart of government but also of the standards expected of the entire British population at the time.”

SNP MP for West Dunbartonshire, Martin Docherty-Hughes, has said it is shameful that the Prime Minister still refuses to resign despite the clear findings of multiple breaches of Covid laws at 10 Downing Street.

Commenting, Martin Docherty-Hughes MP said:

“The initial findings of Sue Gray’s report are damning and underline exactly why people in West Dunbartonshire and across the country are so angry at the actions of this Tory government.

“Throughout the pandemic my constituents have followed the rules – missing birthdays, weddings, funerals, and births to help keep our communities safe. We were asked to sacrifice so much by the very people in Downing Street who think the rules don’t apply to them.

“And, yet, despite breaking his own lockdown rules multiple times and misleading parliament, Boris Johnson shamefully still refuses to resign,

“Time and again our communities are being let down by those in Downing Street, but getting rid of Boris Johnson alone won’t solve the problem. We need Scottish independence so we can rid ourselves of Westminster sleaze and corruption once and for all.”

The published report on the initial findings of senior civil servant Sue Grey is available here.
