Response to Jackie Baillie’s Trident Position

“Jackie Baillie consistently supports the Tories on important issues. She supports austerity budget reductions, she campaigned with the Tories during the referendum and now she has joined them in voting to waste hundreds of billions of pounds on Trident; a weapon that no sane person would ever consider using.

Jackie says that “Scottish Labour voters don’t matter”, and she’ll always follow London policy over anything her own constituents want or need. The Scottish Parliament has agreed that when the time comes, the Scottish Government of the day will give guarantees to the Trade Unions, with both the Labour Party and Scottish National Party committed to a jobs retraining and diversification program for the bases. Any argument about job losses is nothing more than smoke and mirrors designed to hide a moral deficit.”
