Local MP Martin Docherty-Hughes has responded to the announcement that West Dunbartonshire is to remain in Level 3 restrictions along with 18 other local authority areas following this week’s review of Covid-19 protection levels.
The Level 3 restrictions are expected to remain in place until at least the week beginning 4th January, although there will be a further review on Tuesday 22nd December before the Christmas recess.
Martin Docherty-Hughes MP said:
“Cases of Covid-19 in West Dunbartonshire have stabilised at a relatively low level over the past week. In comparison to neighbouring local authorities we may be doing well at the moment but with lives at stake there is no room for complacency.
“NHS staff are working flat out across the Greater Glasgow & Clyde area and with the roll-out of the vaccine stepping up this is a crucial stage in the fight against Coronavirus.
“We’ve come a long way in recent months but in the run up to Christmas it’s important not to let our guard down. With case numbers rising quickly again in parts of England and Wales it underlines why it’s right to be cautious in lifting restrictions too early.
“I’d like to thank my constituents for setting a good example by sticking to the rules and continuing to do all they can to help keep our communities safe.”
